More about Color Match
Color Match is built on a well-known effect in which reading a word interferes with naming its color. The word says one color, the letters are printed in another, and your habit of reading wins out unless you override it. The game rewards the skill of suppressing that automatic response and answering with the ink color instead.
The run is endless and sets its own pace. Every ten correct answers moves you up a level and shortens the time allowed for each answer. On Easy only the ink counts. On Medium and Hard a badge occasionally flips the rule to Match the WORD, which gives you a little extra time when it switches but punishes autopilot. As you level up, more colors join the palette and the swatches grow from four to six, with their positions reshuffled every round.
Scoring and progress
You earn 10 points per correct answer, with a bonus of 2 once your streak reaches 5 and 5 once it reaches 10. A wrong tap or a timeout costs a life and resets the streak. A personal best is stored for each difficulty, and the grade from S to D is based on your final score, with higher thresholds on Easy than on Hard. Easy gives you four lives, Medium and Hard three.
Common questions
Why is the timer getting shorter?
Every 10 correct answers starts a new level with a faster clock, down to 40 percent of the starting time.
How does 2 Players work?
Both players see the same word, and the first correct tap scores. First to 10 wins. Player 1 uses A S D F and Player 2 uses H J K L. It is not ranked.
What does Unlimited do?
It removes the answer timer so a round never times out. It is solo only, uses its own leaderboard and caps XP at 200.
