Spore Sling

You're a glowing spore-critter at the bottom of a living cave, and luminous goo is rising. Pull back, let go and fling from node to node. Chain quick grabs for a ×5 combo and see how high you can climb.

Difficulty

Touch or mouse: press anywhere, pull back and release. Slide back to your start point to cancel. Keyboard: ← / → aim · hold Space to charge, release to fling · P pause

  • Fling and grab: the dotted arc shows where you'll fly. Touch a glowing node to cling to it
  • Chain it: grab fresh nodes quickly to raise your combo to ×5. Hang around more than 2 s and it drains
  • Outrun the goo: it starts slow and a bounce net catches your first slips, then it rises faster the higher you get. Thorns and rocks cost a life

About Spore Sling

Spore Sling is a one-finger climbing game. You pull back and let go to fling a squishy glowing critter between grab nodes, climbing a cave while toxic goo rises from below.

How to play

  • Drag anywhere to aim; the dotted arc shows where you will land. Let go to fling.
  • Grab fresh nodes quickly to build a combo multiplier up to x5. Hanging on one node too long drains it.
  • Watch for crumbling, gliding and swinging nodes, thorns and falling rocks, and grab spores for Double-Fling, Shield, Slow-Mo and Magnet power-ups.

Controls

Drag and release anywhere on the screen, or use the mouse on desktop. Keyboard: arrow keys to aim and Space to fling.

More about Spore Sling

Spore Sling is a game of rhythm and risk. Each fling is a small decision: a close node is safe but slow, a far node climbs faster but lets the goo catch up if you miss. The skill it trains is judging distance and power from the aim preview, and picking a path two nodes ahead rather than just the next one. Players who stay calm and fling in a steady rhythm usually climb higher than players who rush.

The cave changes as you rise. Every 150 meters you enter a new area, cycling through Teal Hollow, Lumen Grotto, Magma Vein and Crystal Spire, with a small bonus each time. Higher up the gaps widen, nodes crumble, glide or swing, thorns and falling rocks appear, and the goo rises faster.

Scoring and progress

You score for every new meter of height, multiplied by your combo. The combo goes up by one step for every four quick grabs and reaches ×5. Collecting spores, grabbing power-ups, skimming thorns and threading thorn gates all add bonus points, and each new cave area adds 250. Easy scores ×0.45, Medium ×1 and Hard ×1.8. Grades run from D to S, with S at 11,000 points, and each difficulty keeps its own best.

Common questions

How many lives do I have?
Easy gives 3 lives, Medium gives 2 and Hard gives 1. You lose one when you touch the goo, a thorn or a rock without a shield.

What do the different spores do?
Small spores add points. Big spores give power-ups: Double Fling for one mid-air re-aim, Shield to survive one hit, Slow-Mo for 3 seconds of bullet time and Magnet to pull you toward nodes.

Why does my combo keep dropping?
Staying on one node for too long drains the combo, and so does a flight that lasts more than about two seconds. Grab fresh nodes soon after each launch.

Tips and strategy

  • Fling again quickly. A chain breaks if you stay in the air for more than about two seconds, and hanging on a node drains your combo, so keep the rhythm moving.
  • Use the aim preview to pick landing nodes that lead to another node, not just the nearest. Having a next target ready keeps your combo alive.
  • Do not trust crumbling nodes. They give way after a short time, so grab them only as a stepping stone and leave right away.
  • Save your Shield spore for the higher cave areas, where thorns and falling rocks are more common. It absorbs one hit or one dip in goo.
  • Early in a run, bounce nets fling you out of the goo if it catches you: 3 on Easy for the first 18 seconds, 2 on Medium for 15 and 1 on Hard for 8. Use that grace window to build height, because after it ends the goo is no longer forgiving.
  • Thread thorn gates and skim thorns only when you are already in control. The bonus is nice, but each is also a real way to lose a life.
