About Territory

Territory is a fast paint-arena game. You steer a glowing painter that never stops: every floor tile it rolls over turns your color, and rolling over Rival AI paint steals it. Whoever covers the most floor when the 75-second clock hits zero wins.

How to play

  • Drag anywhere like a joystick, or tap where you want to go. You are faster on your own paint and slower on rival paint, so sweep fresh floor first, then steal.
  • Grab power-ups: Splash paints a big blob, Roller widens your brush, Turbo speeds you up and Ink Shot stuns the nearest rival. The last 10 seconds are a frenzy with wide brushes.
  • Arenas rotate between Pillars, Crossroads, Four Rooms and Corners. 2 Players puts two painters on one screen with an optional Rival AI. Local matches are not ranked.

Controls

Drag anywhere on the screen as a floating joystick, or tap to point your painter; WASD or arrow keys on a keyboard. In 2 Players, Player 1 drags on the bottom pad or uses WASD and Player 2 drags on the top pad or uses the arrow keys.

More about Territory

Territory is a game of coverage and timing. Your painter never stops moving, so the strategy is in the route you take. You want long, efficient sweeps across fresh floor, a few well-timed raids on rival paint, and a position that keeps you near the power-ups when they appear.

The match is 75 seconds long on one of several arenas, such as Pillars, Crossroads, Four Rooms and Corners. On Easy you face one relaxed Rival AI, on Medium two, and on Hard two ruthless rivals that leave each other's paint alone and team up against you. The last 10 seconds are a frenzy: everyone moves faster and paints with a wider brush, so a lead can change quickly.

Scoring and progress

Your score is the percentage of the floor you control when the clock hits zero, and a best is stored for each difficulty. The grade is S at 75 percent or more, A at 60, B at 50 and C at 30. XP rewards your percentage, the grade, tiles stolen, power-ups collected, stuns and a win. There is also a daily challenge with a target percentage, and your result screen shows tiles painted, stolen and time in the lead.

Common questions

Can I play with a friend?
Yes. 2 Players puts two painters on one screen, and you can turn on a Rival AI as a third painter. Local matches give no XP and are not ranked.

How do I steer on a phone?
Drag anywhere on the screen as a floating joystick, or tap where you want your painter to go. On a keyboard use WASD or the arrow keys.

What is Unlimited?
It removes the timer in solo play. It uses its own leaderboard and caps XP at 200.

Tips and strategy

  • Sweep fresh floor first. Your own paint speeds you up and rival paint slows you down, so painting a clear lane gives you a fast route back later.
  • Raid rival paint in the middle of the match, not at the very start. Stealing a large patch changes the score twice, once for you and once against them.
  • Take Splash when you are near a rival-heavy area, since it paints a big blob instantly. Roller lasts 5 seconds, Turbo 4 seconds, and an Ink Shot stuns the nearest rival for 2 seconds.
  • Sweep in wide S-curves instead of straight lines. A wide brush overlaps less of your own paint, so each pass covers more new floor.
  • Save a few steals for the final 10 seconds. The wider brush and extra speed make a late raid very effective.
  • On Hard, the rivals team up on you, so avoid being caught between both of them.
